Eligibility: Everyone wanting to share a video, story, poem, or song about their adventures on the water.  While most of the presentations relate to commercial fishing, we are open to all types of marine boating.

Content:  For a taste of the type of content we’re looking for, take a look around the original FisherPoetsGathering in Astoria, OR http://www.fisherpoets.org/.  While the original event celebrates commercial fishing, here in Bellingham wecelebrate all water-related activities through poetry, prose, video, and song.

Types of Presentations:  We welcome videos/films, stories, poems, songs, ballads, sea chanteys and more. If you are presenting a film, please indicate the type of A-V equipment   you’ll need.

Note:  Because some of the venues welcome families, we ask that if you are presenting   before 9 p.m., that you keep your content family-friendly.  After 9 p.m., go for it!

Length of each Presentation:   15 minutes. 

Compensation:  To assist with travel and per diem expenses, we provide stipends:

  • $20 for Whatcom County
  • $100 – outside Whatcom County but within Washington State
  • $200 –presenters outside the State of Washington

Charge to Attendees:  $5 for a button for entry into all venues. Each venue will have a‘greeter’ ready to sell buttons.

Order of Events:

5 to 8:30 p.m. - Friday SeaFeed

  • Continuous loop of films projected
  • Short presentation (15 min)

8 to 11 p.m.FisherPoets-on-Bellingham Bay Begins! (might begin earlier at a few venues)

  • Depot Market Square
  • Boundary Bay Mountain Room
  • Honeymoon Mead & Cider Bar
  • Chuckanut Brewery - videos

Merchandise:  We welcome sales of merchandise such as anthologies, notecards, art work, CDs, DVDs, etc.  A merchandise table will be set up at the Friday SeaFeed, organized and staffed by Village Books, with each contributor receiving 60% of their sales. Equipment/Set-Up: Most of the venues will have a stage.  All will have a public address (P.A.) system.  Musicians, please specify the exact equipment that you require.          

Masters of Ceremonies (M.C.): Each venue will operate with an M.C.
